NAMM SHOW 2012!!!

We played the NAMM 2012 Show and we’re back! and it was a huge success! We joined the Fernand L. Petiot marching band along with some of the industry’s finest musicians to open the show with the traditional parade through the arena. We played John Phillips Sousa’s Washington Post March and stopped in each hall to play the Star Bangled Banner.

The highlight for us was the 40 min. performance on the B/C Patio Stage. We sounded better than good – we sounded GREAT! At least that’s what the many folks who stopped us after the show told us.

The Get A Life Marching Band™ would publicly like to thank our sponsors for making this trip possible:

  • Clackamas Cultural Coalition and The Oregon Cultural Trust for helping us with a grant to help provide for this trip.
  • Audix Microphones for Instrumental and Vocal Microphones for our NAMM B/C Patio Stage Show.
  • Randall May International for use of RM Marching Snare and Bass Drum Carriers and Stadium Hardware Stands.
  • Avedis Zildjian Company for their support for Marching Cymbals
  • NAMM’s Scott Robertson, Robin Muller, Mary Brown, Ken Wilson, Valentina Valente for their great support and enthusiasm.
  • Greg Herreman for help with Artist Logistics and Practice Room.
  • Jennifer Paisley running the B/C Patio Stage Sound – You rock girl =The sound was fantastic.
  • Graeter’s Ice Cream – for George Denman and all the Graeter’s Family for creating the best ice cream on the planet. We love you guys.

It’s been a long year with lots of fun activities!

We are actively recruiting new members to fill in the ranks. If you (or you know someone) who used to play, or currently plays an instrument – come to one of our rehearsals and check us out, or click the “Apply Now” button in the column on the right side of this page. Rehearsal details are also on right side of this page. Our band is all about having fun and entertaining folks. Not to worry if your musician skills are rusty – this band is a great way to get back in practice!

NOW, getting on with the future! 2012 is starting off with a Bang! Our first performance will be for the prestigious NAMM show in January. We are fortunate to have Greg Hall for our music director for this gig. He is very talented and the many first place awards earned by Sunset High School Marching Band while under his direction attest to his ability to bring the best musicianship out of each of us.

We’re are looking forward to knocking the socks off the NAMM Show audience with our freshly honed skills thanks to Greg!

The booking requests are pouring in and our board of directors is hard at work figuring out which events we can do and will publish a full schedule for 2012 soon. Check back often under the “Schedule” tab above to see the latest.
